I figured I owed you all an update. The lesson went well. I had six young men: a few seventh graders, a few sixth graders. The young women who were signed up bowed out, went off to other activities. We did Five Golden Coins, and then some push-hands, and then the tai chi form. And that took an hour. Some students left at that point, and went to study hall (as was their option and right).
Some stayed around, and we did another ten minutes or so of standing postures: san ti, and then wu chi as recommended by Doctor Yang Yang. We also did some plank work, and ten push-ups. Their form on the push-ups was abominable. Stuff to work on.
Anyway, it was a good first session. By the end, they were feeling weirded out that I had broken a heavy sweat from the workout, and they were just confused. I think that this is good — it gets them thinking about what it is that they want their bodies to be able to accomplish. And I got the genuine workout that I wanted and needed.
