No sooner had I finished the form when I realized that there’s a reason I’ve been ending up in slightly the wrong place every time for days!
For a couple of weeks now, I’ve been having to correct my final position just before closing at the end, because I’ve been a couple of feet back from “starting position” and facing slightly northeast instead of due east. It’s been bugging me, but I hadn’t been able to figure out what I’ve been doing wrong.
Today I figured it out. There’s a series of moves after “grabbing the needle on the sea floor” that I’ve somehow blocked out:
- spread hands like fan
- turn and block
- punch
- throat strike
- false close
- retreat to the mountain camp
So, I redid the form, with those actions, and returned exactly to where I should be upon closing. It’s nice to know that the form is self-correcting in this way. If you’re out of position at the end, it’s because you’ve missed a few steps. Find the correction, and the problem will go away.
