Taiji Day 238: Breathe

It’s startling how often the question of what to do during tai chi comes down to breathing.  It makes everything better.  It fills the head with a sense of lightness.  It wakes up the body and the mind.  It helps one achieve balance even in the tricky postures.  Breathe and everything gets better.  There’s not much more to say about that, than that.  It doesn’t seem to matter if we’re talking about tai chi or life.  Slowing one’s breathing, increasing the amount of breath one takes in, expelling more air on each exhale… it makes everything better.

I’m not sure how many times one can say that, but it’s still true.  I wish there were more to it than that, but there doesn’t seem to be.

Happy Halloween, everybody.
