Unrhymed sonnets…

apparently posted a directive to people to write unrhymed sonnets. So here’s one:

The Garden

Eden and Babylon are the same place:
gardens planned and planted in the desert,
artifice meeting divine directive
at the dry crossroads of life and gnosis.
Heaven and earth become unified here.
Within a boundary that is death to cross,
imported trees flourish in foreign soil
and spread their branches over bloodied ground.
Their absolute coordinates forgotten,
Eden and Babylon rise in the mind
as two separate, opposed identities —
lush parterres of carnal and holy love —
yet this one most beautiful paradise
has gates to equal its holiest trees.

busy people we are….I’m going to be staffing a retreat at Glendeo the weekend of the 7th……maybe we’ll have to wait till sept? *sigh*

  2. Re: damn…..

Weekday would work for me, but I think we are booked for the next 3 weeks. Andrew is going away next week, then we have firedance. So a weeknight would not be free until August 23rd or so.
The only other possibility would be the first weekend of August the 7th I think is open-Andrew?

    Glad you like. Thanks…

Um… I don’t THINK we have plans for Sunday… you could either meet us at the museum, or we could drive out, pick you and the monkey up, and go to the MFA… check with about our Sunday schedule?

And yes, we can get you into the museum for free. We are members… 🙂

  4. I liked yours too, Tony.

Did I mention that you were a total hit at the party? My friend Forrest was amazed, so was — he actually has a kudos for you in his most recent entry, I think — as were a lot of the other drummers, including Camilla who is not easy to impress.
