The Sun enters Gemini I The Apple of Eden on 20 May 2026 at 8:38 pm EDT over western Massachusetts. Austin Coppock gave this decan this name, noting its associations both with human hands, and with the idea of knowledge that is not necessarily backed up by facts or evidence — sacred insights born from astonishing and wonder-filled experiences. T. Susan Chang, noting its associations with the 8 of swords in Tarot, called it Fate versus Free Will. The card itself shows a woman bound and blindfolded in the midst of eight swords planted in the sands of a beach. She dare not move — but if she could only drop the hoodwink, she has plenty of tools at her disposal to get free. The Sun will be present in this decan for ten days, nine hours, and fifty-five minutes, entering Gemini II on 31 May 2026 at 6:31 am EDT.

The ancient Greeks looked to Tethys at this time of year — the wife of Okeanos and the goddess of fountains and springs of both salt water and fresh. If you like Parma ham and prosciutto and aged parmesan cheese, she’s your gal — but if you like clean water, she’s your lady, too. Often depicted as a beautiful matron with the tentacles of an octopus’ lower half, she’s a reminder that the sea can be lovely, dark and deep, and still kill you. AT the same time, we’ve done her a disservice in more ways than one in the 20th and 21st century — using her appearance as the sea-witch Ursula in Disney’s movie The Little Mermaid, and doing our level best to clear the seas of fish and whales in an ongoing rapacious harvest.
For the Greeks, she was primal chaos itself. What are we to make of the reality that our life is dependent upon rivers transporting abundant waters from mountainside springs to the sea, carrying nutrients and eroded soil and effluvium from high ground to low, from the pale hillside to the deep ocean? For the Greeks, her tentacles were the streams of water reaching out of ocean up onto the high ground. We understand rivers to run in the opposite direction — but in a sense, Tethys’ tentacles draw everything that touches water down to herself, and to her grasping hands. The microplastics and the agricultural runoff, the child’s toy boat and the pesticide residue, they all flow downstream to her. And in a sense, her role and work in the world is to pull all these things to herself. The snow on the hillside becomes the bubbling brook and the raging river… and it will come to her eventually. Are we honoring her or poisoning her with our contributions to the landscape?
Mercury is the ruler of Gemini, and is present in the sign and decan — and juuuuust on the edge of the Sun’s area of greatest effect, the so-called zone of combustion. This first decan is administrated by Jupiter, who is inconjunct in Cancer. We’re thus in a season when the herald-planet offers a job to Jupiter, realizes he’s up to his eyeballs in other responsibilities, and throws up their hands with an “ugh, why must I do everything myself?? Fine.”
What should be a season of big-picture thinking, then, is likely to get bogged down in complicated and poorly-managed details. Your household budget is likely to suffer when you keep focusing on keeping canned soup and bread in stock — when both are relatively easy to make at home more cheaply than store-bought.
Dates to Watch
20-23 May — Venus sextile Mars — Make an effort to spread contentment, gratitude, ease, and delight during these three days especially to existing lovers, family, and friends. All new acquaintances in these days will bring benefits both financial and social, and romantic connections are likely to flourish (but note the fantasist problems with 21 May)
21 May — Sun conjunct Uranus, Venus square Neptune — Make time to get in touch with the inner you, and consider what your vision is for love and connection to others… but also recognize that there’s a fantastical component to romances begun or consummated on the night of 21-22 May which is likely to prevent a relationship from ever becoming grounded or rooted in emotional maturity.
22 May — Mercury sextile Saturn — your judgement and discerning eye will be turned up to 11 today, and you’re likely to find fault in everything and everyone. Make a point to carry extra cash for tipping servers, and try to have a gracious word for everyone in a subordinate role. They’re having a hard time today, and you could be the one bright spot they encounter.
24 May — Sun sextile Neptune, Sun trine Pluto, Mars square Pluto — You may feel like your relationships are breaking down today, and your vision of relationship may be in a mismatched place vis-a-vis your partner. Struggles for power, agency, and autonomy may be quite real, but you don’t have to let it become a fight of freedom vs. slavery — remember that everyone wants to have choices.
28 May — Venus square Saturn — expect your enthusiasm for others and their issues to cool, and your desire for solitude to rise higher in your priority list. Expect that important people in your life may want to be alone, and you may similarly want to tell off people that would otherwise be at the center of your heart.
30 May — Moon opposes Uranus — The Moon in Pisces’ early degrees looks to achieve romantic connections, and the delights of sensuality and attraction, and the benevolence of a tender hand on a cheek, or the generosity of forgiveness. Yet the new opposition to Uranus in Gemini may bring disruption and sudden shifts of plans when the Moon is in the 26th Mansion. Watch for babysitters canceling on date night, forgotten homework, and delayed flights home.
House Delineations
In this section, search for the themes you want to understand, such as family or housemates or money or career, to understand how these may play out.
The First House of self and self-presentation is Sagittarius ruled by exalted but inconjunct Jupiter in Cancer. The Lunar Apogee is present. Fire Triplicity rulers are opposed (Sun), trine (Saturn), or inconjunct (Jupiter). Many of your desired and desirable actions for self-promotion may bring you unwanted attention or difficulty or opposition. Breaking free of old habits helps but you may find that what you wanted brings you more trouble than you thought it did. Your spouse or significant other may know better what you need to do, than you do.
The Second House of money and possessions is Capricorn, ruled by squaring and exiled Saturn in Aries. The Earth triplicity rulers are opposed (Venus, Moon), or trine (Mars). Plans for financial success or savings may be curtailed by circumstances that limit how much fun you can have; daily routines bring conflicting priorities to bear on financial matters.
The Third House of extended family and intimate friends is Aquarius ruled by sextile but exiled Saturn. The Air triplicity rulers are sextile (Saturn), trine (Mercury) or inconjunct (Jupiter). Pluto is present and retrograde. Duty and obligation exert steady influence on your connections to friends and family, and uncover hidden critiques — keep children innocent where you can.
The Fourth House of home, household, and parents is Pisces, ruled by trining Jupiter exalted in Cancer. The Water triplicity rulers are trine (Moon, Venus) or sextile (Mars). You have duty to your family and household that isn’t easily set aside. Existing plans may be emotionally challenged but resolved by steady and rational discussion and decision. The presence of the North Node here makes familial and household matters more likely to be centered and essential in the next ten days.
The Fifth House of pleasures and pastimes is Aries, ruled by inconjunct Mars. Neptune and Saturn in exile are present. The Fire triplicity rulers are square (Jupiter), sextile (Sun) or present (Saturn). A cold wet blanket may be thrown over your fun. You may have to ground or limit your children in some fashion, too — but DON’T do so unless you and your significant other or spouse are united in the proper response. Even if you are, keep restrictions strong but brief: you won’t be able to sustain a steady confinement.
The Sixth House of daily routines, pets, and injuries is Taurus, ruled by sextile Venus in Cancer. The Earth triplicity rulers are present (Mars) or sextile (Venus, Moon). Take it easy in the next ten days, especially if a series of conflicts arise in your workplace, or between you and your employees. Slow walk your complaints to higher management; resolve your subordinates’ issues quickly. Be more loyal to your team than to your superiors.
The Seventh House of spouse, peer partners, and rivals is Gemini, ruled by Mercury present. The Lunar Apogee, Uranus, the Sun, and Mercury are present. The Air triplicity rulers are present (Mercury), sextile (Saturn) or inconjunct (Jupiter). Dualism, and the public/private dichotomy that often characterizes most romantic relationships or business partnerships, are likely to be important in the next ten days. Save the private fireworks and upheavals between you and significant peers for private places and spaces; be airy and communicative in public.
The Eighth House of obligation, duty and legacy is Cancer, ruled by the present Moon. The Water triplicity rulers are present (Moon, Venus) or sextile (Mars). Jupiter is present. Big hearted emotional matters bring tears and overflowing concerns. Obligations between parent and child reawaken deep connections; tend to the keys and locks of your spiritual treasures to keep important legacies and duties secure.
The Ninth House of higher learning and long-distance travel is Leo, ruled by the sextile Sun. The Fire triplicity rulers are inconjunct (Jupiter), sextile (Sun) or trine (Saturn). Travel matters require important peer-to-peer conversations, but may be inhibited by looming but necessary tasks at home. Unexpected constraints may prevent you from learning new attitudes and mindsets.
The Tenth House of career and professional reputation is Virgo, ruled by the squaring Mercury domiciled in Gemini. The South Node is present, making career and professional matters less important and more marginal in the next ten days — but also more likely to encounter explosive fecal encounters with motorized ventilators. Plan to decenter your job in the next week or so, but be prepared to phone in solutions to your team.
The Eleventh House of friends, associates, and allies is Libra, ruled by squaring Venus in Cancer. The Air triplicity rulers are square (Jupiter), trine (Mercury) or opposed (Saturn). The choice of who you spend your time with in social situations is yours — but there’s a question of justice to be addressed in how you allocate your hours. Exclusively concentrating on fun may bring contempt or condemnation — but all work and no play makes jack a dull boy. Communicate clearly with significant others and get their advice on how best to manage your social obligations.
The Twelfth House of both obstacles and opportunities is Scorpio, ruled by opposing Mars in Taurus. The Water triplicity rulers are opposed (Mars) or trine (Venus, Moon). Long term planning may be overwhelmed by the sudden tumults and conflicts that arise daily; it’s hard to calendarize the future when local circumstances are changing so quickly. Concern your planning with the six-month horizon: try not to set important milestones for your life intentions farther out than the US Thanksgiving day at the end of November, and Halloween (October 31) is also an important edge to your field of view right now.
Horoscopes by Rising Sign
Decan I of any sign (usually covering the 21st of the month to the first of the following month) is free to all visitors; Decan II is only available to Patreon and Ko-Fi.com subscribers; and Decan III is available to Patreon, Ko-Fi, and MailChimp subscribers.
I recommend reading your Sun sign, Moon sign, and Rising sign for best results. I write them with rising sign in mind, but several people have told me they find that they do better with all three.
Sagittarius: Figuring out which norms to break and which rules to bend is an important part of your work right now, but you should be consulting with your spouse or significant others to make these choices — and recognize that you have obligations to more than just your lineage, some of which may be invisible. Home and household feel more important than career matters, but remember to stay rooted in your professional life. Have fun, but don’t be overindulgent.
Capricorn: You may need to restrict or limit your plans, or stay closer to home than you intended this week. Try to find delight even in this scheduling snafu. Relationship matters may be troubled with unintentional consequences of fulfilling your debts, but big hearted people will see the big picture and unlock new possibilities for you. Cut your losses when it comes to fighting for some objectives in the next half-year; some castles can’t be taken by frontal assault, only by starving out the garrison.
Aquarius: Family medical issues may have you rushing around and feeling like you’ve been turned into a local errand boy. Remember to have a little fun even if your inner fire is tamped down. So much of what must be done will be private, and reacting to circumstances beyond your control. Be cautious when handling sharp tools, particularly in the kitchen or workshop; be sensible and cautious with fireworks and projectiles of various sorts. Bring your team together creatively.
Pisces: Household and family matters bring new excitement but require a long and winding path to resolve. THere’s contentment and joy in finding reasons for both nostalgia and hope for the future; make sure you entertain yourself even as you bring joy to others. Parental roles can be a source of whimsy; so can helping your child take on new leadership roles. Financial constraints bite slowly but firmly; making more meals at home and using your existing entertainments will be a more useful way to enjoy time with a significant other than going out.
Aries: You may find yourself in the role of someone who has to throw a wet blanket on fun, or who has to cut the budget at both work and home in ways that bring dismay to household and office team. Circle up with your family to solve some of the technical upheavals of current market forces; you have to hold to certain community norms, but you can also make it fun to think bigger and more creatively for a wider pool of allies. Take the initiative in suggesting the ideas to colleagues, but be prepared to let others find ways to lead you together.
Taurus: You’re setting yourself up for some troubles down the line with how you work through the problems of today. Remember to appreciate and honor your team, and don’t snap a wet towel at people’s backs or their enthusiasms. You’re already operating inside limited constraints, and it would be wise to attend to some of the financial decisions your spouse or significant other is making. Many of the important decisions right now are hidden from public view but still have your fingerprints all over them; keep documentation of what you’re doing and why.
Gemini: Hanging out with others and connecting through language and higher vision will be an important social activity of the next ten days, but don’t forget your most important peers: your significant other, your business partners, and your rivals. It will be easy to get caught up in monetary decisions that involving spending someone else’s cash, but remember to think about the long-term effects of any current wastefulness. Expect to be disappointed by how other people plug in to the vision, but try to remember that everyone is under greater pressures and limitations than usual.
Cancer: You may be on an emotional roller coaster right now. You feel it should be possible to institute new creative solutions or to lead people in directions that keep their cups full but not overflowing. At the same time, you can see the long-term pain that’s building up from mismanaged systems and you’d like to avoid the collegial breakdown that’s coming. In order to fix what’s wrong, though, you need to be more than just a fire blanket, but a fire break. Don’t just get out of the way of the approaching wildfire; make sure it doesn’t consume the next person to show up on the line.
Leo: Traveling with friends may be a great way tl deal with current upheavals, but expect that y’all will be carrying the upheavals with you. Money and other resources may be in personal short supply, but choosing the right travel buddies can make a huge difference. Spend some time thinking about long-term consequences of your decisions now, and make sure you don’t make this alleged intellectual pay all your bills as a way to slip into your bed. Recognize that long-time friends acknowledge debts but don’t always pay them.
Virgo: Professional concerns lead to organic growth of your responsibilities that you enjoy, but also bring trouble when old but unfinished projects are unearthed. Spend funds justly, but also judiciously. Lead your friends well, but also from a place of a centered heart: know how to stabilize your own emotional turmoil and then pass the peace to others. A close peer or key ally may help you see through the economic consequences of recent business decisions. Keep travel gear in good repair or you may face unexplained delays.
Libra: Making judicious and careful choices these next ten days. Be appropriately fashionable in how you present yourself; use what you’re learning or where you’re going as advantageous plays for notice from supervisors and bosses. Much of what you do will e both public and a reaction to what’s going on elsewhere. Rein in unexpected child care costs or bills for entertainment carefully. A spouse may be under some constraints that lead to argument or difficulty: appropriate financial education about your shared realistic limits may be necessary.
Scorpio: There are always going to be secrets you’ve kept too long from a partner or significant other, and it may be time to come clean about them. Will there be trouble? possibly, but better now than in six months when it will really be too late. And yet the choice to conceal or to be open is still yours. A friend or ally disappoints, but a roadtrip companion or two brings childlike wonder and a full range of road-treats. Intellectual work should be the natural consequence of trying to resolve some of your debts: shine clear like and creative thinking on your duty schedule.
