Tai chi y2d49: keep breathing

Posting may be light over the next few days, as it’s been for the last several. It may even be non-existent, as I’ve got responsibilities I don’t normally have. Today the awareness that I had during tai chi was to keep breathing.

This may seem like a no-brainer. But, when you’re trying to intensify your practice, you wind up getting focused on other tags, like arm position and the weight of pressure you’re putting behind a punch. Then all of a sudden, you overbalanced, and too much of your body weight is forward, and you loose your footing.

What caused it? Not paying attention to the breathing. So make sure that stays a part of the daily work: not simply breathing, but breathing consciously. It’s that awareness of the flow of breath, in and out, that remains a rock-solid awareness of where you are and what you’re doing.
