There was a nice juxtaposition this morning. XKCD had a funny bit this morning, about bird poop and gasoline and unit cancellation, and a quotation on a site I use for writing inspiration (this one, WordPress) brought this quotation to light from Benjamin Disraeli: “The best way to become acquainted with a subject is to write a book about it.” I laughed, because I’m writing something now as a way of explaining my discoveries as an artist. And I really liked the image of a car’s fuel-efficiency being measured as a ribbon or tube of fuel of a specific size stretching from origin point to destination.
This blog is closing in on two big milestones: 60,000 views, and 3000 posts in four years. Sometimes the ribbon of words on this blog is thick, and the posts come regularly and heavily: 1,200 words one day, 6,000 the next. Sometimes the ribbon of words is just a trickle. Thank you, readers, for sticking with me.
