Bachmann (R-MN) at her best?

Here’s a Republican congresswoman telling us that “leftist”, “liberal” and “anti-American” essentially mean the same thing, at least as Chris Matthews sees it. And I’d have to agree with him, that such is exactly what she’s saying.

Where have I heard that before? Oh, right. The Unabomber’s manifesto:

15. Leftists tend to hate anything that has an image of being strong, good and successful. They hate America, they hate Western civilization, they hate white males, they hate rationality. The reasons that leftists give for hating the West, etc. clearly do not correspond with their real motives. They SAY they hate the West because it is warlike, imperialistic, sexist, ethnocentric and so forth, but where these same faults appear in socialist countries or in primitive cultures, the leftist finds excuses for them, or at best he GRUDGINGLY admits that they exist; whereas he ENTHUSIASTICALLY points out (and often greatly exaggerates) these faults where they appear in Western civilization. Thus it is clear that these faults are not the leftist’s real motive for hating America and the West. He hates America and the West because they are strong and successful.

So, members of the Republican party in Congress are now parroting the views of a convicted American terrorist. So it’s NOT OK for Barack Obama even to know or associate Bill Ayers, but it’s OK for Congressional representatives to take their philosophical direction from a man who sent 16 bombs that killed 3, wounded 23, and damaged (and very nearly obliterated [had it gone off as intended]) an airplane.

And let’s not forget that she’s proposing a new media-driven UnAmerican Committee to MUAC-rake through Congress, looking for ‘people who hate America’. Oh, Ms. McCarthy, have you no shame?
