Nine Senators voted to allow torture…

THE PRO-TORTURE NINE:
Let’s remind people who they are, for those playing along at home.

Allard (R-CO)
Bond (R-MO)
Coburn (R-OK)
Cochran (R-MS)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Inhofe (R-OK)
Roberts (R-KS)
Sessions (R-AL)
Stevens (R-AK)

Ninety senators voted in favor of a law to ban American personnel of any kind from performing torture. These nine voted against the measure. Remember them.

  1. You do realize that its not that simple, right? And that by suggesting it is, you’re not only short-changing your readers of info, you’re insulting their intelligences?

Have you read the text of the bill? Have you actually looked into the reasons the folks above opposed the measure?

Do you really, truly, care or does it just make you feel good to posture?

Frankly, I’m kind of leary of the directive myself. I want torture to be a difficult decision to come to, but not impossible, because sometimes … that’s what it takes. My guess is that others who opposed it would hate to take a tool, any tool, out of the hands of our people if it could save lives. Are you willing to stand behind the results if it comes to light we had a guy in custody who could blow open a NYC subway terror plot at the cost of a bit of physical abuse?

Will you be the one who’s pointed out as the one responsible for deaths if the attack goes through? Members of Congress will.
