First week @ camp

First Week at camp is over.

It’s supposed to rain tonight, thunderstorm tomorrow, and be cloudy on Sunday.

I’m tired. I’m still wet, and itchy in places where I rubbed up against plants that had rubbed against poison ivy, and I haven’t left camp on time all week. I’m having a wonderful time. I may have handed out merit badges that kids hadn’t finished, but I don’t think I missed handing out any that I should have. The paperwork is a little weird, but the teaching and the learning is wonderful.

Several of the “camp evaluations” filled out by scout masters mentioned me specifically by name as a guy doing a great job. I’ve sung two songs that the camp has never heard before in the dining hall, told stories the kids have never heard before, and even with my very limited knowledge of Indian tribes I’ve done a 100% better job than anyone ever has done in the Indian Lore program at camp before.

I want to know more. I want to do more. I have to be careful, though — I don’t want to burn out on camp, and I need to recognize that I have 28,000 words to write for White Wolf that I haven’t even started yet. And isn’t having an easy time at work — I want to be around to support her when and how I can.

  1. No…

not that I know of. Anything goes, I think. Just bring a label with you, so if it contains meat or dairy or whatever, you can mark it as such.
