More Classics Haiku

In my last post, I laid out twenty-one haiku summarizing the plots of twenty-one great books or poems. Here’s some more.

1. The Sea
The sea is a dog
rolling around on the beach
Not obeying us

2. Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost
Gold may never rust
but that doesn’t ever mean
it will not leave you

3. The Road Less Traveled by Robert Frost
Two roads, yellow wood
this one much used; that one not
I’ll go down that one.

4. Midnight Ride of Paul Revere by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“The British approach!”
said Paulie, racing through town
“They’re coming this way!”

5. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
with fish in your ear
and a DON’T PANIC guide-book
you still won’t get home

6. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
secret snake scares school
striking from a hidden base
till Harry kills it

7. Lamb by Christopher Moore
Big dumb jock named Biff
Hangs around with Jesus Christ
getting it all wrong

8. Ender’s Game
Take some little kids
teach them organized violence
make them kill E.T.

9. Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Drop kids on island:
Adultless, they’ll get savage
and kill off the weak

10. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
True love can conquer
but you need a good grandpa
to cut out boredom
