Post-Nap

So… I walked through the dorms after my nap, and the kids are really gone. All the rooms are empty, and all the common spaces are more-or-less clear of debris. Usually after graduation, a pack of faculty, staff, and everyone sweeps through the dorms looking for cool loot in emptied student rooms.

This year, there’s not much loot to be picked through. My colleagues and I did a pretty good job of emptying the dorms completely, and getting all the trash to the dumpster and so forth. The place looks pretty good.

came down yesterday, and we went to the faculty year-end party. It was a good time, but felt angry and frustrated because no one was really talking to her. It felt weird to her, and the rash engendered by the antibiotics she’s taking wasn’t helping her feel good about her presence there. She went home at 10 or so, while I went to the second party at the school’s campsite in the woods.

Things degenerated into barbarism there, but fun barbarism, with roast meat on the bone, malt beer, and all the comforts of dwarvish hospitality. A good time, in other words.I got to talk with a couple of my colleagues that I don’t know very well, and connect with them on a new level. It was good.
