was as worried about the skinniness of my cat as I was. She suggested feeding the cat roast beef. Geordie got a fair bit of roast beef yesterday, and a slice this morning; he’s already looking and sounding happier. Of course, now I’m not sure that he’s going to eat his regular food, which is worrisome, because a diet purely of roast beef is not likely to make my wallet happy.
On the other hand, my cat no longer looks like an Ethiopian in a fur coat.
His activity level is good, so I may not feed him roast beef for veyry long. Basically, I probably won’t buy more when this package is empty, and he’ll just have to manage with what’s in his food dish. But he does seem a bit more active and friendly. And he’s not throwing up, which I’m profoundly happy about.
Of course, the reason he was throwing up, apparently is that I was feeding him tuna. Cats, apparently, don’t have the enzyme necessary to digest tuna. Hmm…. ooops.
We gave our cat raw beef liver. Much easier on the pocket book. You could mix a little in with the dry food and then slowly ease it out. Also, beef or chicken broth mixed in with the food might help. Have you checked to see if your cat has teeth problems? Maybe the crunchy food is hurting when he chews it..

ooooh, roast beef – happy happy kitty! so the protien is working?
when moving kitty back to dry food, you can try mixing the lunchmeat into his bowl & then in dauily increments, reducing the amount that you give him until he’s back to kibble again. (& there’s always teh chance that adding brewer’s yeast to his kibble might be just as appetizing.)
here’s a curious – is the difference in food changing his behavior at all? he really didn’t seem sluggish when i met him – nice & active, just slim. how’s his activity level?
