So the use of the five “Grasping the Swallowtail” sequences as keys for intensifying practice does in fact appear to work. It’s hard to say more about it than that, because all I did was intensify my practice for one short sequence of moves. That short sequence could be lengthened to include the space between two “Grasp the Swallowtail” movements, but I think I’ll keep it simple for now. No stumbling, no forgetfulness about where I am in the form today, although I had some during the qi gong exercises.
As I’ve said elsewhere, I’ve added a small segment of meditation to my morning practice, about fifteen minutes. That comes at the end of the tai chi sequence, and it’s helping settle my energies after the workout. I’m liking the results so far.
