Sun in Aries II 2026

The Sun enters Aries I The Crown, on 30 March 2026 at 12:58 pm EDT. Associated in ancient and Hellenistic calendars with Persephone the daughter of Demeter and goddess of the underworld, it was given this name by Austin Coppock in his book 36 Faces. T. Susan Chang, in her book about Tarot titled 36 Secrets, called it Kingdom of Gold, relating it to the Three of Wands — a card where a noble figure leads you on a path through a nominal gate into new opportunities. The Sun will be in Aries II until 9 April 2026 at 4:40 pm EDT, making ten days, three hours, and forty-two minutes.

I’v’e written about Aries II in the past, in 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020.

Persephone appears to have been a goddess among the aboriginal inhabitants of Greece even before the Greeks came to that particular geography. Linear B tablets hint at her presence as part of Greece’s spiritual landscape as early as 1500 BCE — thirty-five hundred years before the present day; yet as late as the third century BCE, there was no commonly agreed-upon spelling of her name, ranging from Pursephatta to PherephaphaPersephone would not have been an easy word for ancient Greek speakers to pronounce. However, it’s just as possible that the Hellenes brought her with them from elsewhere. Her name has been reconstructed by linguistic analysis as a possible Proto-Indo-European (PIE) word meaning “thresher of grain” or “beater of seeds” and has been shown to be similar to unusual and rare words in both Sanskrit and Old Persian. The Greeks themselves had a few different folk etymologies of her name, “bringer of death” and “chaos-causer” among them.

Yet in the Mysteries of Eleusis, for more than two thousand years, she held pride of place as the goddess who dwelled in the land of the dead through each winter, and yet returned to life annually with the greenery of spring. Without her departure and return, there could be no life on earth — and her existence was considered to be proof of the immortality of the soul. The image of this decan, the crown, hints at that eternal sovereignty.

The second decan is said to be administrated by the Sun, and it’s here, at 15° Aries, that the Sun is said to be most exalted — that is, the honored guest of another planet (in this case Mars), able to have all that it wants with only limited responsibilities in return. Most of all, what the Sun wants to do is shine, and bring forth the greenery from the black moist earth. At this time of year, in this hemisphere of the world, that work is almost effortless. And it reminds us that it is not Hades who comes up from the ground each spring, but Persephone in her role as keeper of all plant life. One ancient writer explained, as though telling a joke, that the keystone mystery of Eleusis was “an ear of grain in silence reaped” — it is only the grain that is cut down which can be turned into new life. So it is every spring: new life emerges only from ground where the seeds have been properly buried.

Dodekatemoria

I’ll gradually be integrating this information more consciously into the column, but here’s a foretaste of what’s coming.

The Dodekatemoria or Dodeks are the 2° 30′ sub-sections of the zodiac. There are twelve in each sign, and 144 in the whole of the Zodiac. The word, from Greek, means “twelfth part”.

Dates to Watch

  • March 30 to April 6 — Saturn sextile Pluto — A productive and hard-working combination, but also possibly filled with despair and suffering. It’s not that you don’t want to do what you’re doing — there’s a sense of being born to do this work, this week… but it doesn’t mean it will be fun. Focus your efforts, delegate often and follow up by asking for reports from underlings.
  • April 1 (10:12 pm EDT) — Full Moon in Libra, in the 15th Mansion — The Full Moon this month is in a place well known for bringing success in business and acquiring new friends, or for digging wells — but it’s a poor indicator for travel and it promises that the roads you go out on will be in worse shape on the return journey. Buy high quality materials and goods for the next two weeks, and get judgmental about fresh produce for best results; be cautious about burning gas unnecessarily.
  • April 3-4 — Venus square Pluto — challenges sometimes arise in relationships that require intensity and grace and diplomacy to navigate well. Remember that you can’t control the other person, nor can you allow yourself to be controlled for the sake of security and peace. You both have to be in the dance for the sake of healthiness and liveliness. Recognize that stability will be in short supply this week; be dynamic in how you work for balance.
  • April 7-9 — Mars sextile Uranus — A drive for new experiences causes you to seek out new life and new social connections and more exciting friendships, even with people you that often make you uneasy or feel unsettled. You yourself are more likely to be erratic or impulsive today; don’t forget your daily routines, at least as best as you’re able.
  • April 9 — Mars enters Aries, 3:36 pm EDT — Under current circumstances, expect to reap The Whirlwind today.

House Delineations

The First House of self and self-presentation is Cancer, ruled by the sextile Moon in Virgo’s 13th Mansion: the Wings. Exalted Jupiter is present. You’ll be inclined to eat well and live well this week, but “gym days” will turn into lazy days if you’re not careful. Water Triplicity rulers Mars, Venus and Moon are all sextile, showing beneficial results from travel, working collegially with business allies, and planning activities with close friends and family — those plans with your inner circle may get disrupted, though, so have backup plans in some corner of your mind.

The Second House of money and possessions is Leo, ruled by the Sun exalted but inconjunct in Aries. The Fire Triplicity rulers are all inconjunct. You have a desire to show off wealth and possessions this week, and to be generous to others, but there’s real value in buckling down and shining-up your labors in your professional roles this week rather than getting all spendy. You want to set yourself up for a promotion based on being a keystone in your organization, not because you know how to live it up.

The Third House of extended family and intimate friends is Virgo, ruled by opposing Mercury detrimented and exiled in Pisces. The Moon (in the 13th Mansion) and the South Node are present. The other Earth Triplicity rulers are opposed (Mars) or trine (Venus). It might good week to try to turn a butt dial into a booty call — but only if you’re open and honest about future possibilities. If you plan to ghost after one night, you can expect that your friends are going to be upset with you when the fallout splashes them.

The Fourth House of home, household, and parents is Libra, ruled by inconjunct Venus in Taurus. The Air Triplicity rulers are opposed (Saturn), inconjunct (Mercury) or square (Jupiter). Household matters require balance and linkages to function correctly, but professional issues tend to rule the roost; long-distance travel and homework eats time planned for being a homebody, and self-care expands to crowd out cleaning and laundry. Try to remember that cleaning can often be a path to sanity; but so can a good shower. Make time for both.

The Fifth House of pleasures and pastimes is Scorpio, ruled by trining Mars. The Water Triplicity rulers are trine (Mars), sextile (Moon) or opposed (Venus). It’s always delightful to be able to devote some time to your hobbies, secretively — but this week especially try to use your social time to reflect on what it is about your hobbies that brings you pleasure even when they cause frustration — needing to take out a whole line of stitching, frogging several rows of crochet or knitting, junking a wooden box when the saw goes awry. Share your stories with friends later, though maybe not all the curse words you uttered while you were undoing bad work.

The Sixth House of daily routines, pets, and injuries is Sagittarius, ruled by inconjunct Jupiter. The Lunar Apogee and the Lot of Fortune are both present. The Fire Triplicity rulers are trine (Sun, Saturn), or inconjunct (Jupiter). When it comes to leading others, you have a choice in how you do it, and breaking the usual norms and rules is likely to bring results when done judiciously. But it’s good not to upset routine completely, or expect people to conform to a brand-new routine without testing. Remember the Toyota CEO who noticed that good teams move more slowly, because fast teams always had to cut corners.

The Seventh House of spouse, peer partners, and rivals is Capricorn, ruled by squaring and exiled Saturn. The Earth triplicity rulers are square (Moon) or trine (Venus) and sextile (Mars). Your spouse or significant other is playing matters close to their chest, but clearly intends to take charge and lead the way. When it comes to connecting with friends, they’ll be your partner’s friends; the destinations of your trips are the places on their bucket list; the option for intimacy is theirs. Some of this may feel unsteady or unsafe, particularly late this week and early next week. Where you can, speak your fears, and then demonstrate the trust you feel.

The Eighth House of obligation, duty and legacy is Aquarius, ruled by sextile but exiled Saturn. The Air Triplicity rulers are inconjunct and exiled (Mercury) sextile but exiled (Saturn), or exalted but inconjunct (Jupiter). Pluto is present. A great deal of work this week requires bringing resources out and putting them to work, in ways that feel more expensive and rushed than you’d like it to be. Take care to evaluate work done for you with attention to process and materials; you may not be able to get remediation for bad workmanship, but you ought to take note of it so you know where to take your business next time. Deliver higher quality workmanship than usual on your own endeavors.

The Ninth House of higher learning and long-distance travel is Pisces, ruled by trining and exalted Jupiter. The Water Triplicity rulers are present (Mars), opposed (Moon) or sextile (Venus). The North Node and Mercury are present. Travel and learning opportunities present themselves frequently, often in nuanced conflicts with one another. A teacher you’ve wanted to study with is available, but it may require canceling other plans. A friend wants to take a workshop or a road trip with you, but it may mean playing hooky from important coursework for a while. Before going on the road, do a visual inspection of your engine and vehicle; bring your required materials to class this week.

The Tenth House of career and professional reputation is Aries, ruled by inconjunct Mars (who will enter the sign on April 9, just at the end of the decan’s era). Neptune, Saturn and the Sun are present. The Fire Triplicity rulers are present (Saturn, Sun) or square (Jupiter). Live your occupation this week as best you can. Hold up your new vision of yourself in this form of gainful employment, and set your heart on fire with passion for this turning-over of a new leaf. Recognize that you can’t be employee of the year without knowing your job better than you do now, so make a point of thinking thoroughly about each major project and process you touch.

The Eleventh House of friends, associates, and allies is Taurus, ruled by present Venus. The other Earth Triplicity rulers are sextile (Mars) or trine (Moon). Uranus is present. Expect that your friends are going to need a little unexpected help as they navigate the current challenging environments. Be prepared to pray for them, but also put them in your datebook for a few days or a few weeks from now, and also in three months. Check back in and follow-up with the people you help.

The Twelfth House of both obstacles and opportunities is Gemini, ruled by squaring Mercury. The Air Triplicity rulers are sextile (Saturn), square (Mercury) or inconjunct (Jupiter). The Lunar Perigee is present. At this point, you may find that your long-term planning bifurcates between what you need to do for yourself and your immediate household if things keep going as they are… and what you need to do if things improve dramatically or decline precipitously in the next ten days. There are actions you would normally take now that will assist you no matter what comes your way; there are other actions you’d do now that could indicate difficulties if your fears come to pass. Take the time to game out several scenarios, and determine if there are actions worth postponing, or moving up by several days or weeks, based on how each day’s events play out.

Horoscopes by Rising Sign

Decan I of any sign (usually covering the 21st of the month to the first of the following month) is free to all visitors; Decan II is only available to Patreon and Ko-Fi.com subscribers; and Decan III is available to Patreon, Ko-Fi, and MailChimp subscribers.

I recommend reading your Sun sign, Moon sign, and Rising sign for best results. I write them with rising sign in mind, but several people have told me they find that they do better with all three.

Cancer: Settling your ‘brand identity’ will be an important part of the work of the next ten days, especially in professional settings like your job. Plan to live a little larger and a little more forwardly with colleagues and allies, but expect a few ruffled feathers as a result. You may find that you have to be the more public partner in relationships. Be cautious when discussing sex with your close friends or family; you may accidentally say more than you planned and bring trouble as a result.

Leo: Financial issues should be prioritized, especially if you have your heart set on upcoming travel. The current constraints of gas prices may affect you more than you expect, and you may want to revisit or revise your route based on expected changes. You can rely on promised hospitality along your journey, but beware: don’t trade your professional services for only room and board. Consider what issues arise from having a romantic or business partner that isn’t used to being financially limited.

Virgo: If you’re the sort of person who plans a garden, consider whether your garden beds need additional mitigations: and figure out how you’ll birth the resources to do that, because they may not be available. Some time should be spent on partnering with others for what you need; many gardens nurtured together bring forth a better crop for all. In the workplace you’ll find that you have divided loyalties. Let some daylight shine on your burdens and see all this stuff is worth carrying.

Libra: Household matters are important this week, but it may be hard to see them. You’ll be planning and thinking about six months from now rather than what’s right in front of your face — and questions about important partnerships may be too bright and too forward at a time when daily life drowns all your available intellect. Constraining a partner from apparently bad decisions may feel like the best option, but allow them the crown for a while and see how it works out.

Scorpio: If you have kids, you may find yourself furious at current behaviors, even as you explain and lay out your hopes for their future. If you don’t, you may find yourself trapped between a half-hearted request for what you want but not really enjoying the compromised results of the request — yet knowing that if you didn’t ask, you’d get nothing. In a both-and circumstance, you’re not really depositing enough effort in the quotidian decisions to gain the rewards you’re looking for. Breaking your financial rules may teach you some important lessons this week, but you’ll have to accept another’s steadying influence.

Sagittarius: You’re more eager to break free of daily routines, even as the weight of responsibility seems to settle more firmly on your shoulders. Your workplace seems smaller, with both fewer clients and colleagues, but more sensual frisson and a greater desire to share confidences. Pleasure, hobbies (and taking care of the kids) are important forces at the moment, but these may be more constrained or unexpectedly canceled than you’d like. There are duties or promises you’re failing to notice; ask a friend to keep you true to your work.

Capricorn: You have to take the more public role in your important partnerships this week, even if it’s not normally your role. Even when working from home, prepare to be the sunshine and the sovereign — carry the vision, even as you’re honest about the limitations. When considering your hobbies and pastimes, don’t just do the work for today, but consider how you’ll carry these delights forward for the next several months. You may have a falling out with a really close friend over things you say or imply on social media.

Aquarius: Some big responsibilities have been dropped off at your duty station, and it would be a good idea to find a Platonic help-meet in your workplace to help you understand how to manage this unpleasant new task. You want someone who knows how to cut the work into smaller tasks, not someone who will do it for you — learning how to wear this crown is going to take some work, but once you learn how to do it without criticism, you’ll be powerful beyond measure. At the moment, it’s going to come with an unpleasant side effect of having to re-think your income and expenses, because you’ll need to spend bigger and better on daily routines.

Pisces: School is supposed to be front and center of your mind, but playing hooky and hanging out with friends may be much more appealing as the weather gets warmer. In classes, you might be the person constantly wondering if you can move class outside, and you could get your way if you ask in the right circumstances. But be aware that this fond hope may often clash with memories of when it goes awry. You may be up for a performance review at work, and you should definitely be asking for a raise — even if you don’t get it, you want to create an objective chain of work-product that demonstrates worthiness, for your own resume even if your current boss is unimpressed.

Aries: Professional matters are highlighted this week, and you may find that it’s easy to muster support and alliance with colleagues, even if the long-term plan of what you’re supposed to be doing or working on isn’t really clear yet. “stuff went wrong in the past and we’re hoping you can fix that stuff” might be as good as you get. That’s fine, as far as it goes, but it’s worth tactfully building bridges with the people who make sure you get paid, to clear up what “stuff” means in your personal context, or you might find that the exit opens faster than you’d like. Talking over your office culture with a housemate or a family member, and get their secret “hot take” on how you can lead effectively in this particular role and environment.

Taurus: Personal friendships and workplace alliances are important forces to harness and put to work in these next ten days, but endeavor to lay the groundwork now for the results you want in six months. The trick is to make it appear like you’re not doing or saying anything with any hope of reward. Your power to analyze and understand people has some unusual blind spots at the moment, so it’s worthwhile to ask friends what’s going on? with mutual acquaintances; pretending ignorance and curiosity allows others to spill the tea, as it were. Yet it’s important not to spill the tea that others pour for you — take the most circuitous route you can before confirming or denying rumor.

Gemini: If you plan to stay where you are — home, professional role — for more than a little while, it’s worth thinking about the rules you live by, and the rules you expect your partner(s) or housemates or colleagues to obey in some detail. What rules do they get to break? What norms, once broken, can’t be repaired? What are the red lines no one can cross? You may be finding that you’re gearing up for big financial moves and goals, but remember that generosity is a complicated process, and you may be disappointed with how your gifts or resources are used (or misused) by others. Be friendly and open with true friends and help them out of a jam — but recognize that certain firewalls are difficult to rebuild once you cut through them.
