Sewing: Japanese cotton

I went to a high-end fabric store relatively recently, and found this very nice imported Japanese cotton in a traditional pattern print.

It’s got this lovely texture to it that’s quite unlike most American cottons (a misnomer — most “American cottons” are woven overseas from American-grown cotton, but the cotton has usually traveled halfway around the world to be spun into thread and a quarter of the way ’round to be made into fabric…).

It was nice to turn a Japanese cloth into a Japanese design.
