I’m visiting friends today, and for a variety of reasons I had to perform my taiji form and Five Golden Coins indoors. There’s an unexpected challenge that comes from doing martial arts work in small spaces: I wind up concentrating much more on what’s happening internally than externally. I was much more focused on my breath than on my physical hand positions and postures — which is fine.
I never feel like I’ve gotten as good a workout from this method as I’d like, but then, it’s about maintaining the energy over the long haul. So it’s AOK that I didn’t do as much as I’d like to do. There’s tomorrow, too.
