I’ve always been a believer in technology — just not always ‘modern technology’. Here’s two videos about ways in which ancient technology managed the limitations of their available skill-set to achieve remarkable things.

The thing that amazes me about these technologies is how much they show us that genuine design solves problems that are particular to a place — the Golden Desert in the case of the first one; the planet Earth in the case of the second — but in both cases what begins as a way to solve the environmental challenges, they become expressions of cultural beauty and cultural awareness.
