One of the more popular posts on my blog has to do with the Ars Memorativa, which is one of the techniques used by a contemplative society to which I belong: the Ancient Order of Druids in America or AODA.
I’m pleased to report that the issue of the Ars Memorativa has come up again in an unlikely place — the New York Times, in the Magazine section yesterday. It provides a useful and important confirmation that ancient techniques of learning really should be adapted and re-adapted to modern learning.
I plan on teaching Ars Memorativa to my students when we return from spring break next week. I’ll let you know how it all goes.
