I read up a little bit on the Bantu migrations in Africa last night. I learned that these migrations from around 800 BC to 400 AD were one of the largest movements of people in the history of the world.
I learned that the Bantu peoples are divided into somewhere between 300-600 ethnic groups, and yet that certain things are in common between them. This slideshow is an attempt to capture what I learned in only 30 minutes.
Is it perfect? No. Is it wrong in places? Probably. But it’s a lot more than I ever learned in school, ever before. And it’s more than these kids will learn from their textbook.
