I would agree with you that the new media/old media stuff makes it tricky. I guess I just don’t understand how Twitter could necessarily be useful for schools themselves — although it’s certainly useful, as you point out, for individual teachers who are trying to share ideas and information.
You’re of course entitled to your opinion, and I’m not entirely sure I don’t agree with you. I do think it’s been helpful in building an audience for this blog, and it’s been very helpful in my process of professional development and to the Commission on Professional Development. I was kind of amazed at how many people wanted to hear this talk, but the kinds of questions they asked showed they were trying to graft new media onto old-media structures.
