I haven’t received my official report from my academic dean and history department chair, but it seems likely — likely — that I impressed them with my teaching abilities.
Every time I go through this process, it seems like I am expected to go through a slightly different process and a slightly different evaluation system. It makes me nervous every time.
And I wind up spending so much time preparing for that one class… the other classes that week suffer for the concentration. Argh.
Andrew, of course.
Hey — at least you’re being observed! That’s a huge step in the right direction. In my six years there, I was observed three times. In my first year at my new school, I was observed three times — and that wasn’t even a “formal” observation! (That happens during the second year and then every five years thereafter.)
This is true. And for years, my “evaluation” consisted of someone poking their head in the door and saying, “great job Andrew.” And then leaving.
Ben,
Planning on listing you on my resume. Is that still OK?
