School Wireless

So…

it seems that the school is testing a wireless network. I am writing this from the detention room, and it’s very exciting that I’m doing so. So far I’ve printed to the printer in the Tech office, and used the network to make up a couple of worksheets for my class without leaving the detention room (which means I can supervise the students sent to detention and complete work at the same time. This doubles my productivity at school, at least. Now I don’t have to rush around trying to figure out which printer I’ve sent my document to. I know exactly where it has to have gone — and I don’t have to transfer documents to flash drives or e-mail them to other computers in order to print them. Amazing.

I also have a direct connection to the net this way, instead of going through the school’s security filters. This will change, but for now — I can access livejournal from school instead of waiting until I get home. Apparently I can also get e-mail, though the connection is a little fuzzy.

  1. and so it is, apparently. One of my students last period was absolutely itching to try it out.

The one bad thing to come out of yesterday. I woke up this morning with a horrible crick in my left shoulder. I think carrying my bag of books around with me is giving me some trouble. 🙁

  2. I’m glad it’s not. Currently, the wireless network is only open to other faculty, so we’re relatively free to do as we please on this network. I like it. The kids are still detained, fortunately. 🙂

    • that could be a form of punnishment in itself for the kids sent to detention-seeing you use the internet and your computer-heh
