It’s been an OK day, but not spectactular. Mostly I’ve talked to , gone to church (Episcopalian), wrote a dozen lines of the Epic, and filled out three memes. Not very busy. and I typed at each other just before lunch, and took five kids to K-Mart for 45 minutes so I could do grocery shopping and they could get junk food.

Exchanged e-mails with Julie Woods; she wants me to write a piece about the Tsunami, essentially calling upon the gods not to visit us with this sort of disaster again any time soon. She actually wanted me to do more than that, but I kinda begged off, saying that I was busy enough as it is. Though I don’t really feel very busy right now, actually. For them what don’t know, Julie runs a musicians’-activism-food-bank program called Fans with Cans. She’s getting all worked up about ways to connect her work with the tsunami victims. I applaud her efforts, while hoping at the same time that the effort will not overwhelm her.

  1. Firefly = good

What the quiz lacked, the show more than made up for. Truly a sad story of the network not giving it time to get it’s legs, develop a fan base, etc.
Rent/borrow/buy the first season on DVD in preparation for the movie.
Would I lie to you – if I thought I’d could get caught?

  3. You’re kinda like Seth in that regard. The ancient Egyptian prayer to Seth runs something like this:

O great Crocodile God, brother to Osiris, lord of the west, guardian of the roads to the land of the dead. You have power over eye diseases and strength to send boils in the groin and armpits. Here are many good sacrifices, which we give into the mouth of your creatures, and here are libations of oil and wine for your flies which we pour out in your desert sanctuaries rather than our own homes. Please visit some other place than our homes now, and if you must bestow your blessings, send them on those that forget your sacrifices.

  4. Yeah, because the Gods really want to hear more people trying to tell them what to do. I know were I a God, I’d be tracking the source of the most whining for the next hit.
