Just deleted a 2-page entry. That totally sucks.

Monday — Fencing meeting for the state. My fencing team has twelve matches this year. A kid on my dorm beat another kid, hard, for about 20 minutes while I was away. Thank gods I was covered and authorized to be away. The victim is missing teeth and has acquired about forty stiches in three places each; the aggressor has been expelled.

Tuesday — and I had a lovely dinner at the East Side Grill, followed by a lovely evening of talk and comfort. It was nice. The drive home wasn’t bad, but it was long, and I’m not getting out of bed these days unless I have to.

Wednesday — overheard the Head talking with the aggressor’s parents. Head was reasonably gentle but firm. “your son was suspended for a week last year, and a week the year before, for using his fists on other children . Instead of going to anger management all summer, he went to the gym. Now he’s still angry, and four times as strong, and he could have killed a kid. If you try to bring him back here, I will call the state police to have him removed. DCYF is also interested in this case. I’m sorry that he needs another school, but he is done here.” Grades are due today, but I’m not done grading papers (see sunday, monday and Tuesday), much less ready to calculate grades. Copycat crime — a seventh grader pummelled a sixth grader in the dining hall at lunchtime.

I need a nap.

Ye gods, what a week. And it’s only wednesday.

  1. I’m fine, if a little tired. I haven’t been to bed before midnight since, oh, the Tuesday after Labor Day.

Are you and Rob and Erin coming to WordHarvest in Worcester this Friday?

  2. Oh my god, Andrew.
    What a mess!

    I’m so sorry.
    Is the other boy okay?

For that matter, are you okay?

I’m glad that you had good time with Leah before having to deal with that!

    Eek.

    Chin up, ok?
    The week’s almost over ;>

  4. Yeah, he is a good guy. He’s patient, he gives second and third chances to nearly everyone, but once they’re over the line… they’re done.

I hope I’m never on the wrong side of his line, though.

  5. Good headmaster.

We have a zero tolerance policy on violence as well, here. It depresses me when we have to use it.

Strength and spirit, friend. You’ll make it to the end of the week.
