So… Thursday after school ended (school’s out for vacation! Yay!), I met for dinner at Pho Dakao. We had a reasonably good meal, I thought. I had Pho, and we shared an order of spring rolls. No problem. We went to the Worcester Youth Slam. Poetry was OK, nothing special but nothing horrific. I think that Nick won, but I’m not really sure because by this point I was feeling pretty tired. Back to Java Hut, for some coffee before hitting the road.
After coffee, started feeling sick. May have been the pho, may have been the cream in my coffee, may have been the combo of both plus post-term exhaustion. I started having cramps in my stomach, and decided to go home. Got home about 11:15, climbed into bed, and tried to find a comfortable position to sleep in. Cramps were really bad at this point, so I got up to go use the bathroom.
From about 11:30 until 9:30 the next morning, I was throwing up and experiencing diarrhea every half hour. Absolutely miserable. Went to the doctor’s yesterday — it was supposed to be my annual physical — and got cooed over and coddled a bit. No medicine — the doctor pretty much thought it was food poisoning, and my body would just clean itself out, and then I’d be OK.
So far that advice seems to be working. I’ve had two small bottles of gatorade in the last 24 hours — no further vomiting or diarrhea. I’m a little on the achey side, but other than that, I’m OK.
I have a feature at JEster’s in Westfield on Monday, March 8. Anyone have any suggestions about which pieces of mine the audience out there might like to hear?
