Thirty two exams to correct;
Thirty two exam grades to turn in;
Thrity-two term grades to calculate and turn in;
all by tomorrow.

I’m supposed to…
visit grandma tomorrow;
attend a faculty meeting tomorrow;
clean my apartment tomorrow;
chivvy 12 kids off campus tomorrow;
write 5,000 more words for a game company tomorrow.

What did I spend tonight working on?
Getting kids’ rooms ready to pass inspection;
20 pages of curriculum guide for one class I teach (9th grade).
I now know what all my ninth graders allegedly will work on during each evening study hall of the Spring term, from three weeks from now until the end of the term on May 29.

None of these things I worked on, with the exception of the kids’ rooms getting inspected, is needed for another three weeks. The 15,000 words I owe the game company, the grades, the exams, all that — all that’s due in the next few days. This curriculum stuff I won’t look at again for another two weeks or so, at least.

What a screwed-up set of priorities I have.
