Love works great feats where Reason will not dare;
where Reason urges caution, Love goes on–
it sets table with good and hearty fare,
overfills goblets at the slightest sign
of approval or goodly tenderness.
It goes on quests against terrible odds,
and wanders in places of loneliness
far from hearth-fires and comfortable beds.
Yes, Reason sets a cost on what can be,
and puts each choice to scale ‘gainst heavy weight,
but Love acts from honor and dignity,
and fulfills its quests with wearied delight.
Reason assays worth in the marketplace,
but Love runs with joy and pleasure its race.
Leah and I have had a bit of a rough time since school ended; we’ve both been a little frantic about the holidays and where our relationship stands and how best to make time for each other when family and other friends (and my writing assignment) are all chomping at our time. I took a few minutes (ok, half an hour) to write this to her and explain a bit about how I feel about her. I would say that Reason and Love both motivate me to want to be with her and want her in my life, and I felt like I should say this publicly to her here, as well as in e-mail. She’s magnificent.

In order to get a sonnet to format properly on the ‘page’, I don’t have to muck about in HTML for twice as long as it took to write the poem. Formatting sonnets involves a lot of use of the BREAK tag in
“http://anselm23.diaryland.com/”>Diaryland.com. Here, it’s drag-and-drop. Easy. Remind me to use LJ from now on.
