First entry.

This is my first entry on livejournal.com. I’m writing here because I have another diary somewhere else that I use for venting. I plan on using this one, though, for a writing project.

All of the subsequent entries, probably for quite some time, will be dealing with the tale of Avren the Heron, and how he came to the isle of Alba.

  1. Amen, brother. I write every day too, I just don’t have one long project to be worked on so I can completely understand that impulse. I’ll offer feedback as it occurs to me (taking a prosody class right now so there’ll be days when something in what you’re doing strikes me a certain way and days I don’t even want to THINK about scansion).

  2. The epic is probably going to go on for a while, Rick, but eventually I’ll probably put other stuff in here, poetry and prose. I like this diary format a lot better than Diaryland, so I may wind up shifting all my diary operations over here.

But having this Tale of Avren thing here means that it gets written every day, or almost every day. And that’s an advantage in my book. It makes me write, and work on it every day.

And yes, I do want feedback, commentary, questions and so on, so I can work on making it better. This is just the first draft of my ‘translation of the Orieni poet Callen of Alba, don’t you know, so advice on translation and so on would be welcome. 🙂

  3. Is this going to be used for other poetry and prose when the epic’s completed, or just this single project? Just curious, since I always love your poems. Also, are you actively looking for feedback, like, in comments? Or should we flag you down in chat/e-mail?
