On the one hand, it seems silly to write a poem in honor of a conjunction that happens every month; and on the other hand, there will be relatively few of these conjunctions left in Taurus where the Moon is more potent than usual. Today’s Moon-Uranus conjunction will occur at about 6:15 pm EDT and the effects will last several hours on either side of the conjunction; the next one occurs on May 8, 2024 at 7:18 am EDT.
Hail, Lady Moon, in silver glittering, and mister Uranus of shock and awe: you bring rash actions best worth forgetting, and yet your meeting has a certain flaw — that actions always have consequences. Even drunkenness won't erase causes, and nothing done, is ever quite undone. Hasty acts rarely have good defenses; most every contract has fine-print clauses, usually triggered by illicit fun. Uranus, you urge us to swift choices, and Lady, you teach us to trust our heart — and we give in to your lusty voices, and kick our spurs before we've yoked the cart. We put hands to work, caresses or fists, unleash our tongues for kisses or curses, hand off our beer cans and say "watch me now!" Not all things can survive these sorts of tests: they dent cars or fame — sometimes call hearses — or draw the bull-horns of a well-tipped cow. Mere safety is sometimes a misplaced goal: we measure our lives by great adventure, and rewarded risk is a fiery coal that burns through the bonds of each indenture that ties us to the steady, safe... and dull. Give us some willingness to go astray, for laughter, for love, for breaks from routine. No life can be a calm of windless lull, or course well-planned from which we never stray — prod us to deeds we could not have foreseen.
Robert Hand in Planets in Transit, says “under this transit you often feel impulsive and willing to act rashly. Your moods may change so quickly that you surprise yourself as well as others.” He warns that you may find yourself having to live with the consequences of your action, but admits that not all such actions are negative.
It seems silly, of course, to write a poem urging you to rash action tonight, as though rash action is something that could be planned for; and at the same time urge you to avoid doing anything too rash, as though you were going to be completely rational as you decide to do the thing that’s tugging at your heart and ignoring your head. And yet, why not?
