Tai Chi Y4D204: Practice

Yeah, don’t know what to say this morning.  Druidry first off, and then 30 squats, 30 push-ups, the qi gong form called Five Golden Coins, and then two tai chi forms.  Entirely adequate practice for what I needed to do today.  But now I have no idea what to write about that experience, except to say “I’m getting better at squats…”

On Tuesday, at my Toastmasters club, I completed the requirements to be recognized as Advanced Communicator Bronze, and for Competent Leadership. This means that I’ve completed thirty projects in public speaking and leadership in my time in the organization (20 in public speaking, 10 in leadership).  I’m looking over my options for advancement, and trying to figure out what comes next.

And maybe that’s what I’m trying to say, actually, today: the druidry, the tai chi, are all prep-work and personal development for the rest of my life. Even this journal is prep work for the other things that I do in my world, whether teaching students to fold a piece of paper so that when it’s cut once, it forms a five-pointed star, teaching programming and coding, or writing poetry.  I’m learning to unfold myself in new ways — but the daily practice is foundational to all the other things.  And so it should be.
