Taiji Day 255: Cultivate Internal Energy

I woke up at an hour which could only be described as horrifically early, after going to bed relatively early to catch up on sleep.  I don’t know why I’m rising so early, but I am… and I think it’s connected with my tai chi practice.  Accordingly, I did only a very light version of my usual practice: no wrist snaps, relatively little force behind any action, and generally “holding back” from doing it full force.

The result was a generally positive experience, but I won’t know if it’s working until I sleep tonight.  I can’t help feeling tired right now, though… it turns out that holding back can be as exhausting as going “all out”. Why is that?
