Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina appears to be very, very bad, for those that don’t yet know. It’s a Category 5 storm at this point, with a storm surge likely to be in the twenty-feet-high range when it makes landfall.

The Mayor of New Orleans has ordered a general evacuation of the city, which lies thirty feet below sea level.

Time to pray, folks.

In the meanwhile, Leah and I celebrated our second anniversary together this weekend in a borrowed house; we went out to Viva, the fresh-pasta place in Northampton, and we are now recovering from various overindulgences.

  1. It is only 10 feet, you’re right.

I’ve only seen the thirty-feet below sea level in one article, and most other news sources cite a 10-foot-below sea level marker.

    Sorry for the error.
